Orthopedic and Sports Therapy

GMSPT has participated in the rehabilitation of injured athletes since 1981. In the early years of developing his practice, Gary Souza, DPT saw a need to provide early assessment and intervention for athletes. Pre-season strength, stability and flexibility assessments were incorporated with pre-season medical screenings, which allowed coaches to identify athletes who may need rehabilitation in the off-season, rather than waiting until the season started. Sports injury assessments were offered that allowed injured athletes an opportunity to initiate treatment sooner or see a specialist more promptly. While changes in the health insurance rules and regulations have made this program more challenging, the concept remains the same. GMSPT continues to work with local sports teams, high school and college coaches and athletic trainers, to facilitate optimum rehabilitation of injured athletes. We have many years of experience evaluating and treating athletes of all ages. We share in the glory of an athlete’s successes, whether that be performing in the Olympics or playing catch with your grandson.
